Banner Ads Are A Great Way to Advertise Online

By Roger Wadham

Across the internet banner ads are the number one way for marketing online.

Banners can generate many new clients for a business, and like scattering bait in the water to attract fish, a broad approach to attracting a customers attention is required. This means that many different looking ads need to be designed.

They should always be custom designed to match your business theme, and business owners or marketing professionals need to search the many different internet sites offering banner ads to find a package that would best reflect their business needs.

Banner ads are usually placed on various different web sites to draw attention to a business. Some advertising companies will offer a certain number of them with few customization possibilities, while others will allow a company to specify colors, font, graphics, and many other ways to customize their banner ads for a different price. It is imperative to search around until a business finds an advertising company that is flexible enough to understand their needs.

Banner ads, much like print or audio ads, can be customized a great deal. Some options to choose from are;

* Size and general color scheme.

* Which graphics to have on their ad, border colors and style, font style and color.

* In addition, they can decide if they want their ads to be animated or still. Animation can be as simple as making it look as though it is shining or as complicated as having actual moving graphics.

* A banner can be created to play music or sounds, or it can remain silent.

* There are even widgets, which are small programs or applications that the ad will execute each time it is viewed. A widget can be as simple as a calculator or as complex as a miniature game embedded into the ad.

Banner ads are limited by the creativity of the person or company ordering them, and the ad creator. In practice that means the sky is almost the limit.

It's important to remember not to be too extravagant. People will ignore an over-the-top banner ad just as much as they will one that is extremely plain. No one likes looking at something that is so cluttered and flashy that they cannot discern what it is about any more than they enjoy viewing a plain gray box with a line or two of plain black text.

The advertising firm or designer, whichever you choose to go with, will assist the potential client in deciding how to design the banner ad, but they will not overrule you on details.

It's all up to you, and while you're designing its worth remembering that if you're having fun, so will your customers, and happy customers are spending customers.
